Mmju Privacy

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Mmju ("we," "our," or "the App") handles your information. Our approach to privacy is fundamentally different from most applications because we believe your financial data should remain under your control.

By using Mmju, you acknowledge and agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. This policy is incorporated by reference into our User Agreement.

2. No Data Collection Policy

Mmju operates on a strict "no data collection" principle for personal financial information:

• No Account Creation: You don't need to create an account or provide personal information to use Mmju.
• No Financial Data Collection: We do not collect, store, or transmit your transaction details, receipt images, financial notes, or spending patterns.
• No Usage Analytics: We do not track how you use the app, which features you access, or when you use the app.
• No Personal Identifiers: We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or location data.

3. Local-Only Data Storage

All data you create or input into Mmju is stored exclusively on your mobile device:

• Device Storage: Transaction records, receipt images, financial notes, and all app data are saved locally on your device's internal storage.
• No Cloud Synchronization: We do not offer cloud backup or synchronization services. This ensures your data remains completely private.
• Data Ownership: You maintain full ownership and control over all data stored within the app.
• Data Loss Responsibility: Since data is stored locally, you are responsible for backing up your device to prevent data loss. We recommend regular device backups through your operating system's native backup solution.

4. About Invite Codes

• Purpose: Invite codes are used solely to distinguish between different user identities within the app ecosystem.
• No Functional Significance: These codes do not unlock special features, provide enhanced functionality, or grant access to premium content. They serve only as identifiers.
• No Personal Linkage: Invite codes are not linked to your personal information, device identifiers, or financial data.
• Voluntary Use: Providing an invite code is always optional and does not affect the core functionality of the app.
• Anonymous: We cannot identify you personally through your invite code, and invite codes are not used to track or profile users.

5. AI Processing & Privacy

Mmju uses artificial intelligence for features like receipt parsing and financial advice:

• On-Device Processing: Whenever possible, AI processing occurs directly on your device without transmitting data externally.
• Temporary Processing: For complex AI tasks that require external processing, data is transmitted securely, processed immediately, and then permanently deleted from our servers.
• No Training Data: We do not use your financial data to train or improve our AI models.
• Anonymous Processing: When external AI processing is necessary, all identifying information is removed before transmission.

6. App Permissions

Mmju may request certain permissions on your device:

• Camera: Requested only when you choose to photograph receipts. Images are processed and stored locally.
• Storage/Photos: Requested to save receipt images to your device and access images you choose to import.
• Notifications (Optional): For optional reminder features. Notification preferences can be adjusted in your device settings.

All permissions are used exclusively for the functionality you request and are not used to access unrelated data on your device.

7. Data Backup & Transfer

Since Mmju doesn't store your data on our servers:

• Device Backup: Your Mmju data will be included in your device's regular backup if you use backup services provided by your device manufacturer (iCloud, Google Backup, etc.).
• Data Export: We provide options to export your data in standard formats (CSV, PDF) so you can back it up manually or use it with other applications.
• Device Transfer: When switching devices, your Mmju data will transfer only if you use your device manufacturer's data transfer tools.

8. Children's Privacy

Mmju does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Since we do not collect any personal information, this is inherently protected by our design.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided information that might be stored locally in the app, you can delete the app and all associated data will be removed from the device.

9. Security Measures

While we don't store your data on our servers, we implement several security measures:

• Local Encryption: We encourage users to enable device-level encryption for maximum security.
• Secure Development: Our app is developed following security best practices to prevent unauthorized access to data on your device.
• Regular Updates: We release updates to address potential security vulnerabilities.

Ultimately, the security of your data depends largely on the security measures you implement on your device, such as using a strong passcode, enabling encryption, and keeping your operating system updated.

10. Your Privacy Rights

Under Canadian privacy laws (including PIPEDA) and other applicable regulations, you have certain rights regarding your personal information. With Mmju's architecture:

• Access: You can access all your data directly within the app.
• Correction: You can edit or correct your data directly in the app.
• Deletion: You can delete your data by uninstalling the app or using the data deletion features within the app.
• Portability: You can export your data using the export features provided.

Since we don't store your data on our servers, you have complete control over your information at all times.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy in the app and updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy.

Your continued use of Mmju after any changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
